TITLE: Introduction to AI for CHWs: Practical Tools You Can Use Today
PRESENTER: Joe DiGiovanni, Co-Founder, Tapp Network
DESCRIPTION:
Artificial intelligence is starting to show up in everyday community and public health work—and it can be a real ally for CHWs when used responsibly. In this session, Tapp Network Co-Founder Joe DiGiovanni will break down the main types of AI in simple, down-to-earth language and show how they connect to real CHW work. He’ll also share practical tools CHWs and Public Health Administrators can use today to boost health literacy, streamline documentation, support outreach, and make patient education easier.
You’ll learn what different kinds of AI do and how to use these tools comfortably and confidently, with human judgment, safety, and privacy at the center of care. The focus is on real-world tasks, clear examples, and small steps you can take right away—an approachable session on how AI can support and strengthen community health work, not replace it.
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the main types of AI and what they do
- Use AI tools responsibly while protecting safety and privacy
- Improve health literacy with simplified and translated materials
- Reduce time spent on documentation, messaging, and follow-up
- Identify everyday opportunities where AI can support CHW and public health workflows
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

- Public Health Administrators & Coordinators
- Community-based organization staff
- Anyone involved in health education, outreach, or patient navigation
No technical experience needed—just curiosity and an interest in practical tools that support you in your work.
