Professional Development for Community Health Workers (CHWs)

Ongoing professional development is essential for CHWs, regardless of their work setting. The CHW Association of Delaware (CHWAD) is committed to providing accessible and diverse learning opportunities that help CHWs expand their knowledge and enhance their ability to serve their communities.
Through monthly training sessions, in partnership with various community organizations, we offer professional development designed to meet the unique needs of CHWs in all roles. As a member, you can participate in training or share your expertise with others in the CHW community.
CHWs need a broad range of skills, including:

  • Communication and Cultural Competence
  • Interpersonal Skills and Motivational Interviewing
  • Documentation, Literacy and Time Management
  • Problem-Solving, Reasoning and Facilitation
  • Community Knowledge and More

Our professional development opportunities help ensure that CHWs are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.
